What is heptafluoropropane?
Heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ea) is a clean gas chemical fire extinguishing agent that mainly uses chemical fire extinguishing and also has physical fire extinguishing effects; it is colorless, odorless, low-toxic, non-conductive, does not pollute the protected object, and will not cause damage to property and precision facilities. Heptafluoropropane can reliably extinguish Class B and C fires and electrical fires at a lower fire extinguishing concentration; it has a small storage space, a high critical temperature, a low critical pressure, and can be liquefied and stored at room temperature; it does not contain particles or oily residues after release, has no destructive effect on the atmospheric ozone layer (ODP value is zero), and stays in the atmosphere for 31 to 42 years, which meets environmental protection requirements.

The shelf life of HFC-227ea agent itself is 100 years, and the service life of steel cylinders, according to the national "Regulations on Safety and Technical Supervision of Gas Cylinders", clearly stipulates that the service life of steel seamless gas cylinders is 30 years, and the service life of steel welded gas cylinders is 20 years. The shelf life of HFC-227ea equipment generally depends on the quality of the cylinders, generally ranging from 20 to 30 years. And according to the regulations, HFC-227ea, IG541 and high-pressure carbon dioxide gas cylinders are inspected every 3 years, and nitrogen cylinders are inspected every 5 years. When the equipment pressure is insufficient, the pressure gauge pointer is below the green area, indicating that the HFC-227ea fire extinguishing agent is leaking. According to the "Regulations on Safety and Technical Supervision of Gas Cylinders" promulgated by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, it is clearly required that fire cylinders must be inspected regularly. The regulations are as follows:
7.4.1 Inspection cycle of various types of gas cylinders
The inspection cycle of gas cylinders shall not exceed the provisions of this article.
Article 7.4.1.1 stipulates that steel seamless gas cylinders, steel welded gas cylinders, and aluminum alloy seamless gas cylinders:
(1) Gas cylinders containing nitrogen, sulfur hexafluoride, inert gases, and non-corrosive high-purity gases with a purity greater than or equal to 99.999% shall be inspected once every 5 years;
(2) Gas cylinders containing gases that can cause high corrosion to the cylinder material, diving gas cylinders, and gas cylinders that are often in contact with seawater shall be inspected once every 2 years;
(3) Gas cylinders containing other gases shall be inspected once every 3 years.
